The (0-0) Miami Heat’s [-8] quest for a title continues with game 1 of the 2012 NBA playoff series predictions’ Eastern Conference semifinals against the (0-0) Indiana Pacers [+8]. Inspired by LeBron James third Most Valuable Player Award announcement, Miami will try and get off on the right foot in today’s series opener.

“His goal is to be the best player at the end of the season,” said Dwyane Wade about LBJ winning the MVP award. “But if he can pick up a little history along the way, I don’t think he’s mad about that at all.”

This game’s opening tipoff is scheduled to get underway today at 3:30 PM ET live on ABC. According to 2012 NBA playoff series predictions experts, the Indiana Pacers and the Miami Heat are projected to combine and score an OVER/UNDER total of 187.5 points.

For the Pacers, they are coming off a 4-1 series victory over the Dwight Howard-less Orlando Magic in the first round. After dropping the opener 77-81, Indiana got a wake up call, closing out the series in straight games from that point forward.

Now, the Pacers will be taking on the betting odds favorites to win the 2012 NBA championship this year, and it’ll all start today in South Florida. In spite of the fact that a single points has yet to be scored in this series, there’s already plenty of drama and emotions involved.

This week, Pacers coach Frank Vogel was fined $15,000 for “comments about how the referees should officiate the Pacers’ upcoming series with the Heat,” said the NBA in a statement. Vogel called the Heat the biggest floppers in the league. Get your NBA Playoff predictions right here!

“It’ll be very interesting to see how the referees officiate the series and how much flopping they reward,” were some of the comments that led to Vogel’s monetary fine. “Every drive to the basket they have guys not making a play on the ball. But sliding in front of drivers. Often times they’re falling down even before contact is even being made. It’ll be interesting to see how the series is officiated.”

For the Heat, I’m sure those comments will be somewhere in their minds when they take the court today against Indy in this 2012 NBA playoff series predictions. Especially considering the Pacers defeated Miami in their last meeting, the Heat understand that this will be a much more physical and hard fought series than the last. Head coach Eric Spoelstra spoke about the evolution of a young, scrappy Pacers team.

“They’re a much different team in the last six weeks,” he said. “We feel we are, too. Watching some of our film from those last two games (against Indiana), it’s not really recognizable. Our energy level at that period of time, but also how we were playing offensively – there’s a lot of different things from our standpoint.”

OSH NBA playoff series predictions: Considering the Pacers vs Heat NBA Playoff odds, there’s no way I see the Pacers beating Miami in this series. In fact, if the Heat go on to win the NBA title this year, it would have been done by beating some of the worse teams in NBA history. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: the only remaining team that could potentially push Miami to six games is the Boston Celtics. And even then, I believe Beantown would likely lose that series. In the meantime, I like Miami [-8] over the Pacers in game 1.

The Magic continue to show fight in this series, and we are actually a bit surprised by that fact. They are overmatched at just about every position, and they know that if they lose this game, the likelihood is there that the team is going to be blown to bits from the top down within a week to suit the potentially departing Dwight Howard.

Magath mentioned that it is an important game for Die Wolfe and the players must give their hundred percent. He claimed that the momentum will be with his side as they are currently under a three-game unbeaten streak which also includes a 3-1 away win to Nuremberg on March 17.

We really just dont have a very good feel about the Predators in this one. They arent playing well offensively, and they arent all that much of a dangerous looking team. Sure, it is the de facto home opener for the Preds, who played their first game of the year at home with scrubs, but we just dont think that it will make a difference.

Tottenham appeared to have third place sown up a few months back but they have collapsed of late and are now trying to keep pace with Arsenal for a top three finish. A 0-0 draw at Chelsea was an important result last weekend as it keeps them well placed for a top four finish and they look set for a strong end to the season.

Spurs were back to their best in mid-week when they beat Bolton 3-1 in the FA Cup quarter-final and only an inspired performance from Bolton keeper Alex Bogdan kept Spurs at bay. G

Newcastle are closing down the gap that separates them and Chelsea at a rapid rate and will attempt to overtake them before the end of the season. They beat Aston Villas 4-2 yesterday to make sure that gap is still enough to hold off the Toon army.

The game should be a very interesting one, with both teams loving to attack, although almost all the attention will be on the record English signing, of Andy Carroll.

Four very worthy teams will be battling for a chance to play for the 2012 NCAA men’s tournament national championship on April 2nd. Who will it be? We will take a closer look at the 2012 NCAA Final Four betting odds to try and figure out which team is most likely to win it all this year!

Will it be the team ranked first all regular season long in the Kentucky Wildcats led by John Calipari? Or will the Louisville Cardinals deliver coach Rick Pitino his second NCAA tournament title in his illustrious career at the expense of his former team?

At the moment the going is Good, Good to Soft in places and the groundsmen will be working hard to ensure the track is in as good a condition possible for the highlight of the jump racing calendar. The flagship event, on the last day of racing, is the Gold Cup, which sees an astounding £500,000 prize fund for the winner. Kauto Star, the first horse to win back to back Gold Cups, will almost certainly not start as favourite due to the presence of Long Run who appears to be in with a good shout.

Ruby Walsh will also be looking to become the jockey with the most wins at the festival for the 5th time in a row, something never achieved before.
