Roy Halladay and Cliff Lee won’t be appearing in the series, but that doesn’t mean there will be a lack of good pitching when the Philadelphia Phillies host the San Francisco Giants.  The 3-game set between last year’s National League Championship Series participants gets underway Tuesday night at Citizens Bank Park (7:05 PM ET).

Former NL Cy Young winner Tim Lincecum (8-8, 2.90) will get the call for the Giants in the series opener. He’ll be making his first start against the Phils since Game 5 of the 2010 NLCS and opposed by Phillies rookie Vance Worley (6-1, 2.02) who is facing San Francisco for the first time in his career.

Baseball odds for Tuesday’s contest have the Phillies small favorites in the 110-115 range. Th

Bet Dontrelle Willis & Cincinnati Reds over Atlanta Braves

Author: Natalie Boucaut - Categories: Betting Sport Info - Tags: Atlanta Braves, Braves, Cincinnati Reds -

The Cincinnati Reds notched an 11-2 triumph in Saturday’s contest with the Atlanta Braves, cashing as 120 road favorites to even up the weekend series.  Reds second baseman Brandon Phillips cracked two doubles in a 3-for-5 day, while mates Edgar Renteria and Todd Frazier logged three RBIs each.

Sunday night’s finale between the foes has Braves right-hander Brandon Beachy (3-2, 3.75 ERA) listed to oppose Reds southpaw Dontrelle Willis (0-1, 3.38 ERA).  Sportsbooks opened Beachy as the 125 MLB odds favorite, while first setting the ‘total’ at nine ‘under’ (minus 115).

Beachy and the Braves

Beachy logged a sizable loss in Tuesday’s 12-3 defeat as a 129 road dog against the Colorado Rockies.  The 24-year-old was lit up for six runs in 4 2/3 innings (102 pitches), including two homers.

Braves slugger Dan Uggla poked two solo-shot homers, finishing 2-for-4.  Uggla’s mates Martin Prado and Brian McCann also had hot bats, uniting to hit 4-for-8.

The lopsided affair’sbined 15 runs soared ‘over’ the ‘total’ of nine.  Braves relievers Cory Gearrin and Scott Proctor allowed Colorado’s remaining six runs in 2 1/3 innings.

Atlanta is 29-23 in its first 52 road games, with the ‘over’ going 26-23-3.  Beachy is 2-1 in six outings away from home, posting a 1.10 WHIP and .280 OBP.

Willis and the Reds

Willis makes his third start for Cincinnati, following Monday’s 2-0 loss as a 102 road dog against the Pittsburgh Pirates.  The ninth-year veteran stood in for 4 2/3 innings (69 pitches), allowing both of Pittsburgh’s runs.

Three Reds relievers allowed just one hit between them in the final 3 1/3 frames.  Aroldis Chapman closed out the battle, tossing two strikeouts in the eighth inning.

The duel’s two runs dipped ‘under’ the ‘total’ of nine.  Cincinnati’s Ramon Hernandez and Miguel Cairo united to bat 0-for-7, plunging their team’s hitting to 3-for-29.

The Reds are 26-23 in their first 49 home dates, with the ‘over’ cashing at 28-18-3.  Dusty Baker’s club has hit .255 at Great American Ball Park against right-handed pitching.

Today’s Matchup

Tonight’s first pitch is scheduled for 8:05 p.m. (ET).  The weather forecast in Cincinnati calls for an 88-degree night, with

Everything gets underway Friday at Great American Ball Park andes to a close with a prime-time Sunday broadcast on ESPN.

Currently fourth in the NL Central, the Reds (48-50, -8.7 units) are closer to first in their division than to the Braves (58-41, +8.5) who lead the NL wild card chase. Pitching has been a problem most of the season, Cincy ranking 12th in the NL with a 4.06 ERA. And now the offense, second in the Senior Circuit in scoring, is struggling.

Cincinnati returns home from a short trip to Pittsburgh where the Reds crossed the plate just three times, all of the runs in their only win. T

The 2011 NFL lockout has been going on for 131-days since owners and the Players Association (NFLPA) walked away from their negotiations in March of this year but sources close to both parties are quietly stating that a deal seems imminently close to being signed today. Commissioner Roger Goodell has been working closely with NFLPA executive DeMaurice Smith, the players and owners this week and numerous locations to try and ink out an agreement that can be voted and approved upon for a new collective bargaining agreement that would end the 2011 NFL lockout.

While the finishing touches are being ironed out on a deal, let’s take a look at some of the early 2012 Super Bowl XLVI odds to win. T
