After defeating the arguably best team in the world (Brazil) with currently the best women’s player in the world (Marta), the USA will look to continue their World Cup finals campaign when they face France in the semifinals. The USA squad was able to fight through having only 10-men outlast terrible calls from the referee which resulted in penalty kicks and red card expulsions for the United States. Even with the numerous obstacles and adversaries that had nothing to do with the game of soccer, the USA was able to tie the game vs Brazil with only seconds left and eventually go on to win in a penalty kick shoot-out.

Borussia Park in Moenchengladbach, Germany will be the host USA vs France odds which are scheduled to kick-off at 11:30am EST on Wednesday morning and can be seen live on ESPN, Galavision or online at ESPN3. Japan vs Sweden will be the other semifinal match played on Wednesday at 2:45pm EST following the USA vs France match. Vegas and online sportsbooks have opened with USA as +115 soccer betting favorites to defeat France who are +315 underdogs in money line World Cup odds with a Draw paying-out +240 on a $100 wager. Vegas spreads have also opened with the United States as PK (-275) favorites in point-spread soccer lines while France are underdogs at PK (+200). The over/under total for USA vs France on ESPN has been posted at 2.5 OVER (+115) or UNDER (-150).

The women provided enough theatrics last Sunday in their quarterfinal win vs Brazil but know it will be for nothing if the ladies cannot defeat France today in Germany. With the win vs Brazil, the USA ladies team became the only country in the history of the FIFA Women’s World Cup to reach the semifinals each year the tournament has been held. That being said, the ladies have never faced France in World Cup odds. The USA has beaten France in 11 out of the 13 past meetings and is riding a wave of momentum into Wednesday game but must settle down and focus if they are to move on from the semifinals vs a team that showed enough talent and patience to knock England out of the tournament.

Les Bleus on the other hand have also provided their country with plenty of theatrics after defeating Nigeria 1-0, then Canada 4-0 before losing 2-4 to Germany to qualify from the Group A bracket. Then France went on to upset the England squad in penalty kicks where they will meet the USA for the semifinals. While the USA is considered by many to be the fittest team on the pitch it will be interesting to see how France will be able to the extra time off as defender Laura Georges and midfielder Elise Bussagliahave played in every minute of the Women’s World Cup with one goal each. France has taken more shots than any other team in the tournament with 80-knocks on goal while the USA have 76.

World Cup Picks: USA +115
